About Me

Just like my tiny intro says, I am in fact a ginger, but that's not all.

I have two wonderful parents who happen to both be educators.  My mom - a middle school administrator, and my dad - a pastor... and I totally know about the whole P.K. (preacher's kid) stigma...

The Mr. and I at a sorority theme party, I was the doctor and he was my patient.
(Can you see the band-aide on his head?LOL)

Regardless of how bad I was supposed to be, I turned out pretty tame.  And after four glorious years at The University of Southern Mississippi (SMTTT) and five long hours in the sun at the Rock, I graduated with a degree in Biology and Chemistry.

I was *really* happy and *really* sunburned...

Food was always something I was interested in, but with all the studying, sorority events, and organizational commitments, it was difficult to find time, much less take pictures and blog about the experiences.  I can't count the number of times my poor Granny tried to slow me down to teach me some recipes...

Then on July 14th, 2010, the man of my dreams dropped down on one knee on the Mississippi gulf coast and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.  I was very surprised considering our bumpy road to the fairy-tail finish, but extremely happy and excited! A few months later, on December 18th, 2010, Mr. Gingerbread and I tied the knot, and then spent a beautiful week in Breckenridge, Colorado.

It was just beautiful, and the food was amazing!

Then a few days later, we moved to the fair city of Panama City, Florida.  It is so wonderful to live close to the beach! Unfortunately, moving also meant leaving a job I really enjoyed (becoming unemployed for six months), and all my friends.  During this time of adjusting to married life and new town I began to cook and bake.

A recent stormy day at PCB

This hobby has grown to become something I truly enjoy doing.  I like cooking dinner and trying new types of food and techniques; especially baking! I am glued to other foodie blogs and cooking shows, trying to pick up new tips and tricks to impress my handsome, live-in taste tester...

I think some people are surprised when life doesn't just end after the wedding.  We never really look into what actually happens during "happily ever after." It's an adventure getting married, and it's even more of an adventure being married.  The friendship, the annoying habits (I married a drummer who is also a lawyer, so who do you think wins arguments?), the making up, the security - and every bit worth working for!!

I hope you enjoy my recipes and anecdotes, and I hope you have patience with me as I learn how to use this crazy website!

Thank you so much for reading!
